The Capital of Cyprus
Nicosia District is one of the 6 districts of Cyprus. After the Turkish invasion of 1974, a large part of Nicosia District is not controlled by the Republic of Cyprus. These territories belong by law to the Republic of Cyprus, while de facto they belong to the non-recognized state of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
